This report is the product of the AAG 2021 pre-conference workshop on ‘Innovative aged care workforce solutions and personal care in rural and regional Australia’, held in November 2021. The aim of the workshop was to identify solutions for how to better support and grow the personal care workforce in non-metropolitan areas. In this collaborative workshop, attendees from a range of professional backgrounds shared ideas and suggested ways to address barriers and gaps in regional and rural personal care workforces. The proposed solutions are variously related to four themes: - Remuneration and worker incentivisation - Professional development and training for existing staff - Creating safe and desirable working conditions - Building professional networks to pool resources, where possible. The workshop was hosted by ATSIAAG (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Ageing Advisory Group), AWESIG (Ageing, Workforce and Education Special Interest Group) and the RRRSIG (Regional, Rural and Remote Special Interest Group).
